What is an SME ? |
| |
SMEs are defined as manufacturing enterprises which use
Production Equipment with an aggregate CIF value not exceeding
ten million rupees (Rs 10 million).
Manufacturing means the transformation, conversion
of raw materials, repair, packing and assembly of semi-finished
parts into finished goods.
Production Equipment means machinery and equipment
used in the process of manufacturing. |

Why register ? |

SMEs registering with SMIDO will be entitled to the following

Duty exemption on production
equipment |

Reduced corporate tax
at 15 % |
 |
Preferential rates of
interest on borrowings from the Development Bank
of Mauritius Limited for purchases of production
equipment and for working capital |
 |
Freight rebate of 50%
for enterprises registered in Rodrigues |

Technical backup and other
support services provided by SMIDO |
 |
Duty exemption
on raw materials as per scheduled list |

How do I register ? |
| |
Registration is FREE of charge.
Application forms are available at the Business Counseling
Centre of SMIDO or can be downloaded ( SME
Registration Form ).
Completed application forms along with relevant documents
(listed below) should be filed with the Director of SMIDO.
Upon approval, a Certificate of Registration is issued
by the Ministry of Industry and International Trade. |
